One page per question, with the answer in the first sentence. Mods stopped loading? Start with fixing mods that do not load.
The basics
- Setting up Grimoire for the first time Point Grimoire at your Deadlock install and let it configure the game so mods will load.
- Installing mods Install from Browse, from a GameBanana 1-Click link, from a collection or a list of links, from files on your disk, or from another mod manager.
- Load order and the mod limit Lower numbers win. How to reorder mods, make one always win, merge and delete them, and what happens past 99.
- When two mods conflict What a conflict means, when it matters, and how to pick a winner, turn a mod off, or ignore it.
- Launching modded or vanilla Start Deadlock with your mods on, start a session without them, or test one mod by itself.
- Fixing mods that do not load The first thing to try, what a Deadlock update breaks, crashes, and how to handle the other common failures.
The Locker
- What the Locker is The Locker sorts your cosmetics by hero, and applies a second kind of cosmetic that sits outside your mod list entirely.
- Managing skins in the Locker Turn a hero's skins on and off, set which one wins, pick variants, preview them in 3D, and shuffle a different one on every launch.
- Hero cards Apply card art from an installed mod, or build your own from your images, one portrait variant at a time.
- Per-ability sounds Pick one sound mod per ability, then tune its volume and pitch, without the mods fighting each other.
- Recoloring abilities and painting skins Repaint a hero's ability effects in one color, a rainbow, a gradient, or a trippy pattern, and paint a moving pattern onto their body and gun.
- General cosmetics and Global mods Soul containers, spirit urns, HUDs, cursors, and other cosmetics that are not tied to a hero, plus Global mods that always win.
- Tutorial: a custom soul container from Sketchfab Take a free 3D model off Sketchfab and turn it into a working soul container or spirit urn, start to finish.
- Reviewing and removing Locker overrides One list of every card, sound, color, and trippy skin the Locker has applied, across every hero.
Profiles
- Saving and swapping mod profiles Save your current loadout as a named profile and switch between setups without reinstalling anything.
- Sharing a profile Send your loadout to someone as a share code or a file, import one you were sent, and know exactly what leaves your machine.
- Snapshots and rolling back Automatic recovery points taken before risky operations, and how to use one to undo a bad update or a wrong profile.
Tuning and customizing
- Designing a crosshair Build a custom crosshair with a live preview, save it as a preset, and get it into the game.
- Console commands and launch options Build an autoexec.cfg of console commands that run at game start, and set Steam launch options without leaving Grimoire.
- Performance presets Apply a community fps config to Deadlock without breaking your mods, and remove it cleanly when you want.
- Customizing how Grimoire looks OLED mode, accent color, background glow, sidebar art, language, and date format.
Optional features
- Experimental features The eight optional features behind switches in Settings, what each one unlocks, and which are worth turning on.
- Player stats Track ranked score, match history, and hero performance for any Steam account, and understand exactly what gets sent where.
- Discover Browse mod loadouts published by other Grimoire players, import them, and publish your own.
- Deadworks community servers Browse community dedicated servers, let Grimoire fetch whatever content they need, and join through Steam.
- Replacing a hero's sound with your own Swap any ability sound or voice line for your own MP3, with trimming and volume matching.
